Objective

ECCO’s objective is to make climate a central element of national and global policies. 

ECCO adheres to the following principles:

• Economic independence from private interests: ECCO receives funding from philanthropic foundations and may enter into conventions and agreements with public sponsors, international organisations, university and research institutes, administrations and any other Italian or foreign body with similar objectives that contribute to its mission.
• Transparency: ECCO aims to ensure total transparency of its funding sources by providing access to annual information and budgets. A list of ECCO’s main partners and donors can be found on this page.
• Independence from political parties and influences: ECCO is not affiliated to any political parties or movements. In promoting knowledge and debate, it cooperates with all political organisations and representatives involved in the information and stakeholder engagement work that ECCO undertakes as part of its mission.
• Shared objectives and risk management: Funding from institutions with links to public or private companies involved in the transition (e.g. corporate foundations) is managed under the following conditions:
  • Funding is only accepted when sponsors’ mission and objectives align with ECCO’s.
  • Funding is limited to specific projects, not the organisation as a whole.
  • Funding cannot exceed 20% of the budget for the year in which the project takes place.
  • ECCO’s work is carried out independently from the funding body.
