Silvia Francescon is a Senior Associate Foreign Policy at ECCO.
Silvia is an expert in international relations and has been working on biodiversity and climate change since 1995. In ECCO oversees international and diplomatic processes and contributes to strategy setting and networking.
Silvia holds an honors degree in Law and a Master’s degree in International Environmental Law from SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) in London, following a specialisation in environmental law at Leiden University.
Prior to joining ECCO, Silvia was the Director of the Rome office of the European Council on Foreign Relations, coordinator of the G8 task force at the Council Presidency, negotiator of international agreements at the Ministry of Environment, and coordinator of the UN Millennium Goals Campaign. She has also worked on environmental policies at the OECD, WTO and in the European Commission and has advised several governments engaged in multilateral processes.
Silvia directs the ecology program of the Italian Buddhist Union and is a researcher on deep ecology and the rights of nature at the NICHE center at Cà Foscari University in Venice. She is regularly invited by companies, public administration and organisations for masterclasses and courses on “women empowerment”. She co-founded Women in International Security and EquALL.
