ECCO Mediterranean programme aims to contribute, in collaboration with regional partners, to building a common vision for the Mediterranean region, where energy transition and resilience are central. Through research activities, advocacy, and diplomacy, and in continuous collaboration with regional partners, ECCO seeks to identify innovative and shared solutions to address common challenges, build resilience, and ensure a just and sustainable transition for the region. Countries of the Mediterranean region share a millennia-old history based on trade exchanges, common cultural and social roots, and today it is still central to significant global geopolitical balances. However, this region is also marked by deep inequalities and divisions, particularly along the north-south divide. The increasingly frequent extreme climatic events affecting the Mediterranean Basin, defined as a climate hotspot, underscore the urgency of a shared vision and actions for a resilient region.
