Simone Gasperin is a Senior Associate Public Policy at ECCO.

Simone is an economist specialising in industrial policy, with a specific expertise in the role of publicly-owned enterprises and financing entities. At ECCO he focuses on the relationship between businesses operating in the energy sector and Italian public institutions within the framework of the energy transition, working towards the development of new principles of corporate social responsibility and public accountability.

Simone is an Associate Fellow at the Institute for Public Policy Research in London. Previously he was a Research Fellow at the Einaudi Foundation in Turin, and for three years he collaborated with Mariana Mazzucato at the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose, supporting research and policy activities in collaboration with several national governments and international organisations. From 2020 to 2021, he worked as an Economic Expert at the Italian Prime Minister’s Office.

After earning a degree in Economics from the University of Pisa and the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Simone obtained a PhD in Innovation and Public Policy from University College London.

Alongside Guendalina Anzolin, he is the author of “30+1 cifre che raccontano l’Italia”, published by Castelvecchi Editore in May 2023.
