Event

A green Mattei Plan for development, peace and security

WEDNESDAY 25 JUNE 2025 – 10:00 / 13:00

SALA DEL REFETTORIO, ITALIAN CHAMBER OF DEPUTIES, VIA DEL SEMINARIO 76, ROME

The submission to the Italian Parliament of the Annual Report on the implementation of the Mattei Plan, due on 30 June 2025, marks a key moment in understanding the Italian Government’s strategic direction towards the African continent.

A truly innovative Mattei Plan, capable of triggering a change in approach to partnership with Africa, must be firmly based on the climate transition as the primary driver of development, peace and security. To this end, renewed efforts are needed to rethink Italy’s economic and industrial diplomacy in strategic sectors with vast growth potential, such as clean technologies, renewable energy and critical raw materials.

This event will address strategically important issues for shaping relations with the “Continent of the Future”, particularly in the context of Italy’s potential role in building peace and security through climate action. Several key geopolitical and geoeconomic opportunities for Italy will be explored during the discussion. These include the development of value chains for critical raw materials, the energy transition in the Mediterranean and the development of infrastructure interconnections for renewable energy.

The event will be open to the public. You can attend in person by filling out the registration form.
